Dan Staley, Major USAF (Retired): After graduating from The Citadel in 1971 Dan attended undergraduate flight training at Laughlin AFB in Del Rio Texas. He received his pilot wings in the fall of 1972 and proceeded to Castle AFB, CA for B-52 Combat Crew Training. Following CCTS graduation in December of 1972, Dan was assigned to the 319 Bomb Wing in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He enthusiastically pursued his craft and in the Spring of 1974 was one of three (3) 1st Lieutenant Aircraft Commanders in the Strategic Air Command. Dan was fortunate enough to spend his entire career in active flying billets. He participated in NATO Reforger 85-88, Team Spirit, SAC’s Global Shield, and Desert Storm. During his career he served as a Pilot/Co-pilot/Aircraft Commander, Combat Crew Flight Commander, Instructor Pilot, Squadron Training Office, Chief Wing Standardization and Evaluation Division, and Command Evaluator. Dan retired in 1991 as the HQ SAC Bomber Chief for the 1st Combat Evaluation Group. He has over 5000 hours of BUFF time and has flown the B-52 D, E, F, G and H. Dan has a Master of Arts Degree from Louisiana Tech University and is a graduate of the USAF Squadron Officer School, the Air Command and Staff College, and the National Security Management School in Washington, DC.
